Introducing Andee Tate! Have you guys seen Andee’s photoshop skills? The’re flippin’ amazing! Andee’s work can be found at: www.cravemyphotography.com/blog/
What camera do you use? Favorite lens?
Nikon D700 85mm 1.4
Why do you think honest critique on your images is important?
It’s easy to get stuck in a rut. Maybe you are struggling with skin tone, proper exposure, understanding photoshop, composition, lighting, posing, etc… And it will show in your images. Having someone give you some heartfelt advice can be a great way to move past the road block that is holding you back. Specific professional photographers have already paved the way, they have done the work, learned from their mistakes, and hold the knowledge that can help you take your photography to the next level.
What has been the most helpful critique you ever got on an image?
I was struggling with my exposures and not metering properly. My dad, who was my mentor, helped me to learn to properly meter my light so that I would have spot on exposures! So glad he could help me by noticing that something wasn’t right with my exposures/images!
What 3 words would you use to describe your style?
My style is very eclectic
Where do you pull your inspiration from?
I love nature, music, fashion, and looking at all of the abundant talent from the many professional photographers around the world. We can all gleen so much from each other.
What is one specific way that you balance work and family?
We make it a priority to spend lots of time together doing fun activities. I control how much I take on by charging more and working less.
Best biz/photo advice?
Always put your family first and place a great value on your time with them.
What have you learned the hard way?
That there is so much more that goes into running a business besides just snapping the pictures!
How does your business deal with the rise in photographers. What have you done to standout and compete?
I fully believe it is my custom editing that helps me to stand out and be noticed in an ever growing and very saturated market.
Where have most of your 2011 clients come from (besides WOM)?
Facebook has been my greatest marketing tool
What has been the best workshop or convention you’ve attended so far?
Moments by Kellee put on a business workshop that I attended just months into my business that was very insightful and helpful to me.
What is your most popular product?
My online photoshop mentoring class.
