Have you ever wondered how to wrap up newborns in photoshoots? Today, Robin Long, of Robin Long Photography, shows us how!
Wrapping newborns can be so fun, yet challenging, but there is a basic way to help simplify it. Using a purebaby® nest wrap, simply lay the wrap out lengthwise on your beanbag. Lay the baby about 1/4 of the way in from one side. Begin by taking the short end and wrap it around the baby, pulling snug, and tuck underneath on the other side. Make sure the top of the wrap is over the shoulders to help prevent it from slipping. The wrap is made out of a very silky mohair blend, making it easy to gently stretch and tuck.
Once you have that part all tucked in, simply grab the other end and pull gently over the baby and tuck on the other side. Tuck all the edges right underneath the baby all the way around. I like to start with leaving the tiny little toes sticking out and shoot that first with the baby lying on their side. Then you can gently roll the baby to their back and bring their legs up inside the wrap criss crossing them. Pull the wrap over the legs and feet and tuck underneath the bottom. Make sure to look all around the edges to ensure they are all tucked in nice and smooth. This is a great pose to shoot from above.
There are many different ways you can wrap a newborn, so get creative! Experiment on a baby doll and you’ll soon see your creativeness spark!
